Exclusive Pet Services
The services that separate a hotel which accepts dogs from one that looks after them: canine concierges, walking and sitting, grooming, on-call veterinary support and dedicated pet relief areas.
We describe what each service actually involves, who staffs it, and whether it is included or billed on top of the pet fee.
What a pet service should include
“Pet services available” can mean a bowl on arrival or a member of staff whose entire job is your dog. We ask the questions that reveal the difference: is the walker an employee or an app booking? Is the sitting service available at dinner time, when guests actually need it? Is the vet genuinely on call, or a phone number for the nearest clinic? And crucially, is any of it included in the pet fee, or added afterwards.
The services worth paying for
In our experience three make a measurable difference to a stay: a walking or sitting service that lets you leave the room, dedicated relief areas within the property, and in-room dining for dogs that is prepared rather than reheated — covered in detail under dining designed for dogs. Grooming and spa treatments belong to a different register, and we treat them alongside spa and wellness stays. Everything that arrives in the room itself is catalogued in what arrives in the room.
Where these services exist
Service depth still varies by market far more than by brand, and policies vary between properties in the same group. Our destination work maps where the standard is genuinely high — start with the destinations that set the standard or city stays, and see how programmes are evolving in our reporting on policy changes.
