Industry News Highlights
What is changing in pet-friendly hospitality, tracked as it happens: new openings, refreshed pet programmes, revised weight limits and the quiet policy rewrites that rarely make a press release.
We follow the announcements that affect what you will actually pay and what your dog will actually get.
Why hotel pet policies deserve their own newsdesk
Pet policies move faster than the pages that describe them. A group announces that pets stay free, then a single property adds a cleaning charge; a brand raises its weight limit, then quietly reinstates breed restrictions at its city addresses. Because policies vary between properties within the same chain, an announcement made at group level tells you very little about the room you are about to book. We read the updates, check them against individual properties, and report the gap when there is one.
What we cover
New and renovated properties with a credible pet programme; changes to pet fees, weight limits and the number of pets allowed per room; the arrival of services that used to be exceptional — canine concierges, in-room dining for dogs, dedicated relief areas — and the design and technology decisions behind them, which we follow in pet-friendly renovations and high-tech hotel innovations. Where a change reflects a broader shift in how the category is run, we set it against our travel forecasts and our reporting on sustainable luxury practices.
From the news to the booking
Reporting is only useful if it changes what you book. When a property or a destination earns it, the detail lands in our destination work: start with top pet-friendly destinations for the guides, or go straight to straight to a country hub such as Germany.
