This category gathers first-hand reports from owners travelling with dogs and cats: what they booked and why, what the pet policy actually covered once they arrived, what went wrong at the door or in the room, and what they would do differently on the next trip.
What a first-hand account adds
A hotel page states a fee and a weight limit. A traveller tells you whether the lift opened straight onto the lobby, how far the nearest patch of grass really was, and whether the dog could stay in the room during breakfast. Those details decide a trip, and they rarely appear before booking. Read enough of them and the shortlist changes, which is how most readers end up at the places that keep earning a return visit and at smaller properties that never reach a ranking.

Three formats dominate these accounts. Rural stays, where space solves most problems on its own, are covered in stays with room to walk. Coastal trips, where the real constraint is beach access rather than the room itself, appear under hotels within reach of the sea. And longer stays built around a place rather than a hotel show up in trips shaped by the destination itself.

Confirm the current fee, the weight limit, any breed restrictions and the unattended-animal clause directly with the property: they change without notice, and a story from last season is a lead, not a contract.
